TEAMWORK = SAFER COMMUNITY

To all my fellow TMP residents, please take a moment to read the contents of the email sent to us and the reply to the said email.

This is a prime example of how we can all make a difference by bringing up issue/s and then confronting them, however in this instance no one should point any fingers as the issue at hand requires the co-operation from all related parties to work hand in hand to resolve. In this particular instance involving alleged "ah long", very sensitive issue if you were to ask me, particularly:-

1. Gaining entry by the alleged "ah long" is easy because any visitors will be allowed in with minimum screening as long as they provide their particulars. (The RA and TMP management will look into this). Basic particulars of car registration number is sufficient to lodge a police report however this must be executed by the resident involved.
2. Whether they are "ah long" or not who is to know and what is their relationship with the resident in No.82, TMP 6 is anybody's guess to speculate. Sometimes these kind of situation involves family feud etc. so do not expect the alleged "victim" to get the police involved by lodging a police report.
3. The guards are here to patrol and only act as a deterrent to potential intruders but would you risk your life or risk getting injured and hurt for a measly pay of RM 3.80 an hour??? In this instance a neighbour was concerned enough to inform the appropriate people and back up was called, however the culprits took off just before reinforcements arrived, this is the right thing to do by any resident in TMP.
4. The RA have been pressing TMP management for the said signage to highlight the guardhouse emergency number (currently telephone line for the guardhouse is still awaiting approval) as well as the police beat base number in Puchong but to date we are yet to receive any confirmation. The RA will post the necessary numbers in the community board soonest possible.

The only advice I can offer and share with all my fellow TMP residents is please contribute by practicing responsible neigbourly policing within your immediate premises and communicate when necessary of any incidents immediately.

Resident's Email.......................

Dear,

It make no difference to change new security guards.

My house is 107 Jln TMP 6.

Tonight 21 Aug 2007 11:15pm

2 loan shark came in to our neibourhood at Jalan TMP 6 No 94( Not too sure the house number)
-house number was actually No.82 Jalan TMP 6
Break the main door glass of the house and threaten the kids inside.

One of the guard on routine patrol just watching not taking any action.

I wanted to alert the guards at the main gate. But non of us know the guard hose number.

Can someone let us know, What is the number to alert the guard house?

If there is no phone at the guard house, can we arrange for something on how to contact the guards in case of emergency.

But, I don't think the guards will do anything. cause one of the patrolling guards just pretend not seen it.

Disappointed.........

Thank you.

RA REPLY.................

Dear Shu,

Thank you for highlighting this incident, and most RA committee have been informed before your email was sent to us.

We had informed TMP Management and the chief of the new security firm immediately by their handphones when the commotion started. The security chief arrived with another senior guard fast but not soon enough as the culprits had left. The guard on patrol who did not take any action would face disciplinary action by the security firm.

I was told by the security chief that according to the entry record, this black Vios did not leave TMP yet at the material time. So they went around the TMP streets to locate the car, but I'm not aware of the outcome after that as the crowd dispersed about mid-night.

Before that they checked with the victim whether he would lodge a police report, otherwise if they had caught the culprits and the victim refused to press charge against them, it would be futile effort. From the victim's reaction, I sense he may not lodge police report.

We all know the lack of a phone line at the guard house was a security lax. TMP Management had been reminded since March on this. The last RA meeting with TMP Management confirmed that they have applied for the line, pending cabling & installation of the phone. We touched on who bears the bill, phone abuse by the guards, hoax calls, whether to implement all house owners' residential phone numbers to be kept at guard house so when there is a visitor, the guard will call the particular resident to confirm he is expecting a visitor. Bear in mind that not all residents would agree to leave their contacts at the guard house.

Earlier in the evening there was a flasher at the garden who was caught by the guard. The victim refused to press charge so no police report was lodged.

Last Sunday 2 pendatang tanpa izin was found loitering in an unoccupied house and ran when the security chief questioned them on their motive. They were caught and sent to the Puchong police station. Later it was found they were workers of the TMP phase 3 project team.

The above shows the guards do not show fear or favour. But we still need the full co-operation of all residents in order for the security firm to carry out their duty to protect us. But of course TMP management has to provide the necessary amenities for them to carry out their duties (e.g. phone line at guard house, perimeter fencing, barb wires at certain weakpoints of the perimeter, proper functioning of boom gate etc). In the longer term, residents will have to pay security fee to upkeep the guarded and gated community.

The road ahead to maintain TMP to be a peaceful and serene place to live in is in our hands. We need re-education to bring the standard of living of this community to a higher level, starting from every individual and every household in TMP.

The RA is working very hard to make TMP a more conducive place to call home. That requires universal commitment from all residents to support the common cause.

Thank you for reading.

RA Committee

Regardless whether the victim would like to press charge to the flasher, the guard must report to the police.

What's the point for letting offender off? If you have this kind of mindset, you are telling them they can repeat their offence at no responsibility. Indirectly, you are encourage them to reoffend!!

THINK CLEAR! IF YOU DO THIS, YOU'VE SPOILED EVERYTHING AND PUT OUR COMMUNITY IN DANGER. THE NEXT VICTIM COULD BE YOUR CHILDREN!

Disciplinary action to the guard itself is not sufficient. A guard should be given proper training to handle situation like this. The security company should receive ONE warning for this inccident. Should that be any other similar case another warning will be issue. Upon getting THREE warning, the security company will be discountinued by us.

  2. Please remove the the owner approval thing in this blog. It discourages freespeech and fast discussion!

I once post a reply to this blog and waited two days to see my comment to be post online. That's a long time to get reader reaction/replies if we were into discuss something together.

If there is anything inappropriate being publish, the owner of this blog should have the right to take it down!

Until then, KUDOS RA! You've done a pretty good job than I've expected.

  3. Great to have your feedback "Anonymous" but the RA will really appreciate it if you could use your real name as a resident in TMP and kindly include your street name as well e.g. TMP 1 or 3 etc.
After the said incident and some questioning by the security personnel and feedback from the eye witness it was concluded that the said suspect apprehended was not the said individual.
The security personnel had difficulties locating the original individual whom sighted the incident as the incident was conveyed by a fellow resident about the said resident to the security head.
A suspect was apprehended shortly after the said complaint and we have to sincerely applaud the effectiveness of the said security personnel.
However the actual eye witness did not come forward and could not be located until only recently when the resident whom reported the incident met with the actual eye witness in the park again.
Since the suspect was not the actual "flasher" he had to be released.
The security firm have a SOP to follow and they will do just that and they also have a good relationship with the police in this area. It is crucial that any incident be reported to the security personnel directly and not through a third party. This is to avoid distortion of information and hence assist in the capture of the suspect. We are all law abiding citizens hence we cannot simply put some one behind bars without proof and especially without a report being made by the "victim".
No action will be taken by the police without a justifiable report by the said victim.
As to your comment to the lack of action by the security guard I am assuming you are referring to the alleged "ah long" incident recently? Well it has been concluded that the alleged "ah long" were actually related to the said resident and all parties have been duly informed and measures taken to avoid a similar incident in the future. The management have take the liberty to communicate and also highlight the said severity of the issue to the resident themselves and to do what is necessary on their part to lodge the necessary police report whether it is a relative or not.
