2nd flooding in Taman Mutiara Puchong (2.02.2008)

Sighhhhhhh!!! I honestly feel very flabbergasted why residents in Taman Mutiara Puchong have to endure another round of the same anxiety and unnecessary worry of flood water coming into the house all over again......for the second time in less than 5 months.

Is it the same reason we were given before that the flood water gate was not manned again? Or is it because the said water drainage system surrounding the taman not efficient enough to assist water outflow.......or some other reason which we do not know about?

Well we can speculate as much as we can but I believe the relevant authorities will definitely know exactly what has happened and what needs to be done to recitfy and to prevent a similar incident from happening again, which in this case and hopefully not for the 3rd (third) time.

After the 1st incident on the very first day of Hari Raya 2007 (13th October)we were informed that proper measures were taken and such an incident will not occur again...........however this is not the case now.

I strongly urge all relevant authorities to work hand in hand to get to the bottom of this and to assure all residents in Taman Mutiara Puchong that such incident will never happen again, EVER.

We all pay rates, taxes and bank loans to live in developed housing area like in Taman Mutiara Puchong hence needless to say the last thing we do not expect is to be living in a housing development that can be flooded and dealing with unnecessary anxiety of the possibility of our homes being submerged and the fear of what will happen when the next downpour occurs.

  1. I have nothing to say but thousand of anxieties really surrounded me. What will happen when i leave my house and go to shopping and come back with my house and car submerge in the flood? What is the real cause for the flood in TMP? the local authority and the developer said they settled the problem already but this incident happened again! Is it because a big day-CNY is coming whereas the 1st flood also striked during a big day at Hari Raya, so the 3rd flood will happen at next big day-probably Labour day?

  2. Imagine the anxiety of rushing home upon receiving several calls that TMP was flooded again! Residents at large were busy calling neighbours to remove cars parked outside their houses, as flood water was rising fast, almost reaching the car porch floor level.

The main road TMP 1 from the guard house was fully covered by flood water. Half of TMP 6 was also flooded, especially at the junction of TMP 1 & 6 where the water depth was about 10”. Other roads were believed to suffer similar fate.

Luckily the down pour stopped after 1 ½ hours. If it continued for a longer time, some TMP houses would be flooded indoors, many cars damaged, and it would be another headline on next day’s newspapers.

The sump in front of TMP houses were full to the brim with flood water proved that water was not flowing out of the residential enclave. A RA committee called ADUN Kinrara to check whether the flood gate controller for Klang River was again at fault.

Whatever the reason, there is no excuse for a recurrence within such a short span since the last flood on Hari Raya, and now just before CNY. Will it happen again on Deepavali? We hope the Developer and relevant authorities will seriously make sure there is no repeat of flooding in this community.

  3. Another flood again? What MPSJ, YB Dr Kow and YB Lau got to say to this? I think better they don't say anything .... just go and solve the problem. 2 floods during new year season is already bad sign ... i think the next planned flood will be on deepavali, so that we can call the muhibah flood ..... Please do something about it, no more talking please !!!

  5. My family and I have much, much, much to express to TMP Developer and relevant authorities for the flood. But, what ever we wanted to express was being expressed. Any improvement? So, I would like to address TMP Developer and Local Authorities as “NATO” (no action talk only). I believe all of TMP Residents agreed that we need an action taker instead of NATO.

Since flood happened in TMP, I will not recommend TMP to my relatives and friends who are interested after visited my house because I do not wish them suffer and anxious like me.

My family and I moved to TMP for nearly half a year but TMP was flooded twice. Chinese New Year is around the corner, our anxiety to go back hometown or not. We are worrying our house and our wealth in TMP. The last but no least, my family and I regretted that we have bought this house in TMP which flooded again and again. This never happened in my former housing area.

NATO! NATO! Have you ever look into our safety and anxious and have you further action. We won’t know! Only NATO and GOD know.

May GOD bless all the TMP Residents! No more flood and we do not wish to be headline on next day’s newspapers.

  7. Freedom of expression is vital and the freedom to voice one's concern is at the heart of any developing country's evolution.
It is easy to just sit back and watch things happen or to criticize from afar and this holds water for most of the time especially to the general public whom are just willing to forego their rights and their voice to be a part of a mechanism that will make this country a better place to call home.
Imagine if we have a large group of individuals whom are well aware of their rights as "homebuyers" or even as "rakyat" and are boisterous about it then do you think the developer/authorities etc will have the freedom to just dust away complaints and make empty promises, taking their own sweet time to get to the bottom of things.
Voicing your opinion, whether in this blog or elsewhere is the start we as Malaysian need to practice more as we explore the power of blogging as a medium for voices to be heard rather than muffled elsewhere. True democracy is about "FREEDOM", freedom of speech, freedom of expression and freedom to act justifiably.
Exercising your freedom is a good start to begin realizing that your voice is equally as important to create change for the betterment of all.
Kudos to all that have a voice rather than a whimper.

  8. people said when the election is nearby, those minister will start to do something? what happen to them?
i heard friends said, if can bring all this news to Star newspaper, it will bring a big impact to community. There is once time, where Post office use more than 1 month to send his customer cheque to him. He post this news to Star, and immediately, alot of action is coming after.
    SHould we try this?

  9. I think we should stay away from political issues as you do not want to be dragged into something nonsensical and having to justify your intentions.
Whether it is election or not individuals holding posts to serve the people should have the conscience to carry duty bound responsibilities to the best of their abilities irrespective of the political climate or environment.
It is all a matter of principle of getting the job done and doing it well for the betterment of the masses rather than for the benefit of the minority. Action do speak louder than words and we as Malaysians can easily hear what has been said versus what was done (allowing justifiable time frame for action to be taken).
Just take an old addage of "It is difficult to teach old dogs new tricks", this is what is wrong with our public delivery system because in the system we have a majority of old dogs with no tricks at all only old bad habits.
We can see some positive changes taking place like the immigration department as we can get our passports done much much quicker now unlike the old days of massive queues and incompetent goverment servants whom could not care less about the service level they are rendering.
Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara have improved as well with the MyKad being introduced and a proper system in place to serve the people better. These are the positive changes that other government bodies should emulate and I believe at state level all differing government bodies/agencies etc should get together and have a unilateral plan to serve the people better.

  10. Any news from developer/MPSJ/political person regarding the flood and light issues in Taman Mutiara Puchong?

  11. Regarding the flood issue Dr.Kow is looking into it by communicating with MPSJ but I have no idea what the solution is or whether any action is being taken yet.....all I can say is we will have to wait for some news.....hope it will be soon.
That being said a couple of TMP 6 residents have taken it upon themselves to punch through the perimeter wall (a brick size hole) to act as water outlet into the lake to alleviate the flood water out of TMP especially at the backlane of TMP 6 where the flood will start from.
I believe this will assist greatly to alleviate the flood situation if it is to happen again for the 4th time. Mind you the 3rd time already happened in the early hours of 3.30 AM less than 2 weeks ago. Did you know that?
As for additional lighting for the park we have submitted application to MPSJ many many months ago but alas no reply yet. However we will be pursuing this subject matter again and more aggressively in the weeks to come until we have such additional lighting in place.
