Another Step In The Right Direction
(Above Top: TMP-RA committee members listening to the opening speech by the officials)
(Above Bottom: Steven posing a couple of questions during Q&A session)
TMP-RA committee members represented by Steven & Adeline Poh, Ray & Vivian Wong and Michael & Harriet Yeoh attended a forum titled "Program Mesra Rakyat Bersama Jabatan Dan Agensi Kerajaan Tempatan", held at Dewan MPSJ, Puchong Indah (29.07.07) and was officiated by YB Lau Yeng Peng (Ahli Parliament Puchong).
Many might ask what was the RA committee's objective in attending such a forum, well to state the obvious it is purely to obtain the necessary information from the relevant authorities present at the forum which included MPSJ, SYABAS, TNB, TELEKOM, SPR, LITRAK, JPN, IWK and IPD (Subang Jaya), to enhance our knowledge and to pose the many questions to which we hope to get the necessary assistance from the said relevant authorities to help solve the many issues we all have in TMP.
It was a great opportunity to meet every state agency not to mention the constituent representative of Puchong represented by Gerakan's YB Lau Yeng Peng and YB Kow Cheong Wei. To be honest I for one did not even know that Bandar Puchong was a stronghold for Gerakan's representatives......alas now I do.
At the forum there were at least over 100 residents coming from various taman all over Puchong, mainly represented by their own RA. Many of these concerned residents posed many relevant questions pertaining issues encountered within their own community i.e. more police patrols in the area, monitoring of foreigners activities especially involving unruly behaviour, insufficient street lighting, poor response time from police personnel, unsatisfactory customer care by TNB and TM and many more.....other issues.
I must say the response by the relevant authorities to the questions put forth, was very informative and indeed helpful. To be honest being a first timer in such a forum I was and still am very impressed that I am given the opportunity to pose a couple of questions together with my fellow committee members and at the same time able to receive an immediate response to those questions.
Below are the questions TMP-RA committee members submitted during the Q&A session at the forum:
To IPD Subang Jaya
1. The need for daily police car patrol (with log book) in TMP to further enhance security in TMP
To MPSJ representative Tuan Haji Salamat:-
1. Guidelines pertaining the construction of the guardhouse in a "gated and guarded" community
specifically to understand which state agency's jurisdiction resides over such matters. The question also highlighted the issue of erecting a shaded extension for the guardhouse to protect all residents from rain when entering and exiting TMP via use of the proximity access card.
2. Request for more street lights along the one way road leading into TMP, convex mirror at the curved portion of the road between the guardhouse entrance and MBF printing factory as well as speed humps/bumps to discourage speeding by vehicles outside.
To IWK (Indah Water Konsortium) representative Encik Mohd Rashid bin Aziz
1. The foul and strong ammonia odour eminating from the "loji air' located just outside of TMP near the shoplots.
To Puchong's Gerakan Parliament representative YB Lau Yeng Peng
1. The proper procedures and the relevant authorities involved in the legal formation of a RA.
2. The issue of the area between Lake Edge and TMP behind phase one 2 1/2 storey house concerning the maintenance of the land as currently there is no clear indication who is taking ownership of the said responsibility.
3. Rights of residents/house buyers and assistance needed to challenge developer in fulfilling all of their promises as well as providing the necessary facilities to ensure that a proper gated and guarded community concept is delivered.
The forum began at 8.30 PM and the final question was taken at 11.30 PM, in a nutshell the RA committee members learnt a great deal of information and left with a heart filled with more confidence as we are now better equipped to lead the residents in TMP in achieving a common objective of creating a better living environment for all.
