THREE developers have got off lightly with a fine of just RM25,000 in total by the Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) over the pollution of a lake in Mutiara Puchong.
On Oct 29 last year, StarMetro reported the residents’ shock when they saw thousands of fishes floating on the lake along with the debris of construction waste.
Adnan Md Ikhsan: I hope the residents will be the eyes and ears for the council in monitoring such cases.
According to MPSJ president Datuk Adnan Md Ikshan, the council has cleaned up the lake and removed the dead fishes. Fencing has also been put up around it to prevent dumping.
He said the fine collected from the developers would be used to clean up the lake, and the area around it would be used for recreation.
The council however, has yet to identify the cause of the fishes’ death.
“I hope the residents will be the eyes and ears for the council in monitoring such cases. Take photographs of the scene and inform us,” he said.
Adnan, meanwhile, announced that the rule of having not more than six tenants living in a low-cost flat unit had been enforced with immediate effect.
“However, this only applies to foreign workers and students only,” he said.
If any unit is found to be housing more than six foreigners, the unit’s owner will be fined RM1,000.

Looks like The Voices of TMP Community has finally achieved something significant...Keep up the good work and show the rest of Malaysia what a resident's association can do.
ReplyDeleteKudos to the Voices of TMP Community....but dont gloat over it alright...still no significant reaction from the developer of TMP on all our issues...please work harder and attend more meetings with the authorities...we people of TMP who sits on the fence appreciate all your effort :-)
ReplyDeletehalo anonymous...this is Malaysia lah, you think voices of TMP community is going to get anywhere with the developer...lost cause
ReplyDeleteMalaysia boleh...... when it comes to talk only but when push comes to shove it takes forever for something to be done especially when it comes to consumer rights and interests.
ReplyDeleteAt least we have a group of people passionate to fight for their basic consumer rights and to voice out their concerns which is more than what an average Malaysian will do i.e. hide under a rock for fear of whatever reason instilled in their mind.
For things to get better I always believe in preseverance and persistency especially in an environment like Malaysia. As we move forward in developing this great nation, mindsets will have to change and the pressure of globalisation has made many realise that by keeping mum and not being proactive in voicing out concerns will only have a backward effect on development.
I only respect those who will put words into action and not the other way round........in my experience dealing with the average Malaysian mindset, majority are NATO category......."No Action Talk Only".
Today 2 Feb 08, Taman Mutiara Puchong again striked by Flood. I don’t know what is the caused but I sure know we can’t get any good reply from the developer as they will say “ aiyah! Only a small flood mah, the water is still at the roadside and has not enter into your house, that does not call “Flood”!” You see, are you satisfy with this answer ? Typical “Malaysian” answer! Hey, for all the folks living in Taman Mutiara Puchong, please don’t just say “Flood! luckily I am not at home woh!” Please lah, whenever the RA is holding meetings or what so ever activities, please support and do something within your ability, don’t just wait until the ‘WATER’ comes into your house! Anyway, ‘Gong Xi Fa Cai’ ! Hopefully, this CNY will be peace and dry !
